Give them space, let them roam. Help Pawikans find their way home.

Sea turtles or pawikan have played an essential role in various areas but detrimental activities have pushed the species to the brink of extinction. In Bataan, the annual Pawikan Festival celebrates and raises awareness about sea turtle conservation, with organizations like Bantay Pawikan, Inc. leading local efforts to protect them. This project explores the impact of a 3D animated short film and digital campaign in promoting awareness and support for sea turtle conservation and Bataan’s cultural heritage. By blending storytelling with factual content, the research highlights the potential of multimedia projects to foster community engagement and advocacy for conservation. The study emphasizes the role of creative media in environmental advocacy, showcasing the cultural relationship between Bataan and sea turtles as celebrated in the Pawikan Festival.

Bantay Pawikan, Inc. is a local sea turtle conservation group from Pawikan Conservation Center in Baranggay Nagbalayong formed by former poachers turned protectors.
